In celebration of NDP 2024, Extra Space Asia Self Storage is proud to partner with ACE Seniors, a Singapore-based social enterprise, for the fifth consecutive year. Together, we are actively working to positively impact the lives of elderly residents in nursing homes and community hospitals. This collaboration demonstrates our commitment to giving back to the community and fostering a spirit of compassion and support.

NDP is a time for celebration and unity, and through this volunteering session, we aim to bring joy and comfort to the elderly. Our team has worked diligently to prepare bags of goodies, including food and essential items, for the elderly residents. These small tokens of care are our way of showing appreciation and support for the older generation.

This year, we are thrilled to announce that we have prepared over 486 goodie bags and gifts for our beneficiaries at St Andrew’s Nursing Home and Jamiyah Nursing Home. The joy and gratitude expressed by the residents upon receiving these gifts remind us of the importance of community and the impact of our collective efforts.

NDP Care Packs for our beneficiaries

In the spirit of this year’s NDP theme, “Together as One United People,” we stand united with our elderly community, ensuring they feel supported and cherished. As the NDP 2024 theme song “Not Alone” suggests, we are not alone but stronger together.

Our partnership with ACE Seniors and our commitment to supporting the elderly during NDP celebrations reflect our dedication to corporate social responsibility and our ongoing efforts to contribute positively to society. We look forward to continuing our partnership with ACE Seniors and other organisations in the future, working together to support and uplift those in need within our community.

Extra Space Asia Self-Storage embraced the spirit of giving this Christmas by spreading joy and warmth to the elderly residents at All Saints Home. As part of a heartwarming CSR initiative, the team spent a memorable day engaging with the elderly, fostering connections, and creating lasting memories during the festive season.

The day kicked off with genuine conversations and laughter as our team and the elderly residents shared stories and experiences. Building connections was at the forefront as we learned about their lives, memories, and cherished moments.

In the spirit of festive fun, we engaged in a lively game of balloon badminton. Laughter echoed through the halls as residents and Extra Space Asia team members embraced the playful competition, creating an atmosphere filled with joy and camaraderie.

We also partnered with the elderly residents to embark on a delightful artistic journey. Together, we crafted beautiful mosaic coaster tiles, allowing participants to express themselves through vibrant colours and patterns. Guided by Extra Space Asia staff, the elderly residents worked harmoniously, expressing themselves through vibrant colours and intricate patterns. This shared artistic experience fostered a sense of collaboration and provided a platform for individual accomplishment and self-expression.

Our team’s Christmas celebration at All Saints Home was not just an event but a sincere connection with the elderly residents. Reflecting on this fulfilling CSR initiative, we are reminded of the power of compassion, human connection, and the joy of spreading love during the festive season.

At Extra Space Asia, we firmly believe that the youth represent the cornerstone of our society’s future. Throughout the years, our unwavering commitment has been to provide support, resources, and to nurture a culture characterised by compassion, empathy, and social responsibility within our organisation.

This year, we had the privilege of spending a meaningful afternoon with our youth friends at Club Rainbow (Singapore). The session took place at Club Rainbow Centre @ Sandbox, a purpose-built space where children and caregivers can attend programmes and services organised by the nonprofit in a safe environment defined by autonomy and social inclusivity- two fundamental aspects of quality of life. During the session, we engaged and collaborated with youths aged 13 to 20, gaining insights into Club Rainbow’s mission and the diverse activities they host at Sandbox.

The highlight of the day was the engaging “OrderUp” game, which offered both fun and educational experiences for the beneficiaries. Through the game, they had the opportunity to learn how to recognise various food ingredients, enhance their sequencing skills, organise tasks efficiently, and manage money. Each Extra Space Asia team member partnered with a youth individual to prepare a main course, appetiser, and drink for their friends, fostering teamwork and camaraderie. Laughter filled the room as everyone wholeheartedly participated in various activities, ensuring the beneficiaries had a memorable experience.

Club Rainbow (Singapore) is a non-profit organisation established in 1992 to support and empower children with chronic illnesses and their families. They achieve this by providing compassionate and relevant services, aiding these children in their journey toward an enriched life. The beneficiaries at Club Rainbow (Singapore) range from newborns to youths up to 20 years old. Club Rainbow employs a holistic approach, addressing their needs in five core pillars: Social Work Intervention, Therapy Intervention, Education Support, Arts Development, and Vocational Development.

Here’s a glimpse of how our meaningful afternoon unfolded with our friends at Club Rainbow:

National Day, a cherished occasion in Singapore, represents the spirit of unity, pride, and progress. As we celebrate this momentous day, Extra Space Asia joins hands with ACE Seniors, a Singapore-based social enterprise, for the fourth consecutive year to bring joy and cheer to the hearts of those in need. This year’s NDP2023 volunteering is a continuation of our mission – of making a positive impact on the lives of elderly residents in nursing homes and community hospitals.

The heart of this noble endeavour lies in the enduring partnership between Extra Space Asia and ACE Seniors. In the spirit of giving back to society, Extra Space Asia generously pledges to sponsor over 600 care packs for elderly friends residing in Peacehaven Nursing Home and Lion’s Home for the Elders. This longstanding collaboration has evolved into a cherished tradition, symbolizing our team’s dedication to serving our communities.

For many, December marks a time of celebration and relaxation, as it’s the last month of the year, and a well-deserved break is due. The month of December also plays host to Christmas – a festive holiday that is loved and enjoyed by people from all walks of life.

For this year’s Christmas, Extra Space Asia has partnered with Promisedland Community Services, and has brought the children and youth from their program for a fun day out at Mandai River Wonders!

Founded back in 2002, PromisedLand Community Services is dedicated to providing help and social service to cancer patients, patients will life-long blood illnesses, needy families, children and youths. The organization has helped many along the years, and Extra Space Asia is honoured to be able to partner them, champions of a noble cause.

It was a day of fun and laughter, as the employees from Extra Space Asia paired up with the kids from PromisedLand Community Services, where each team was given a set of questionnaires to solve, and the answers could be found across River Wonders! For some, it was their first time there and they simply could not hide their awe and amazement in the face of the majestic sea creatures.

The highlight of the day was definitely Singapore’s favourite Giant Pandas, Jia Jia and Kai Kai. Unfortunately, we could only catch a glimpse of Jia Jia who was taking a nap by his enclosure’s pool, whereas Kai Kai and Le Le was inside their own habitat – sleeping as well.

The Giant River Otters were also a popular attraction, with many crowding over their enclosure. Fun fact: Extra Space Asia is a proud sponsor and adopter of the Giant River Otters in River Wonders! The company has long been a strong supporter and believer of wildlife conservation.

We were also treated to a boat tour, where we could witness the various wildlife in their natural habitat up-close, such as flamingos, anteaters, jaguars, to name a few!

We ended the day with a gift bag for every kid and youth who joined us for the day, and as always, a mandatory group shot and it’s a wrap! We hope they have had as much fun as we did, for we sure did have an amazing time!

Merry Christmas to all.

As part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, Extra Space Asia has decided to explore and embark on something a little different this year. Working in tandem with Mandai Wildlife Group, the company has shown their commitment to wildlife conservation by adopting Giant River Otters – the largest and rarest of the world’s 13 otter species, found only in the South America wilderness. This species of otters is also at a very high risk of extinction due to Habitat degradation and hunting for its skin.

Through this partnership, Extra Space Asia will be supporting Mandai Wildlife Group in various conservation activities, including but not limited to:

  • Enrichment programmes to enhance the wellbeing of animals in human care
  • Regular health and nutrition checksof all their animals
  • Community engagement and conservation education
  • Exchanges with other wildlife institutions on breeding programmes

Being an avid animal lover himself, Mr Kenneth Worsdale, the Chief Executive Officer of Extra Space Asia said, “This year’s CSR efforts is one that resonates strongly with me. As urbanization is increasing rapidly as the world progresses, unfortunately, Mother Nature continues to be affected. Let’s do what little we can to help ensure the longevity of these beloved animals. We are simply excited and honoured to be able to support Mandai Wildlife Group in their commitment to conserve wildlife.”

We hope this collaboration will improve the quality of life for the otters so that they may continue to be around for our future generations to admire and enjoy. Visit these cute pair of otters today at River Wonders!

An ExtraSpaceCares initiative

Extra Space Asia Self-Storage has always been a strong believer of building long-term relationships with various community groups and supporting them in their meaningful endeavours. The company is glad to be able to work alongside South East CDC for the fifth year running, where we showed our support by sponsoring the use of our storage units for them to store their 3M household products in preparation for its annual 3M campaign.

This year’s 3M Green Challenge theme revolves around sustainability – where the organisation hopes to encourage everyone to become greener in their everyday actions and to give back to the vulnerable families concurrently. Through a social media contest, for every act of eco-activity successfully completed, 3M Singapore will donate a 3M product to the vulnerable families in South East District. At Extra Space Asia, we are committed to caring for the environment and creating a sustainable world for our future generations. Our continuous effort to become a more sustainable and energy-efficient organisation has led to the implementation and use of more eco-friendly materials to reduce our carbon footprint and the overall waste generated. As part of Extra Space Asia’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, the company has evolved over the years and has adopted a green school of thought, where we observe best practices for sustainability in our offices as well as our day-to-day activities. The company has also fully fitted-out our storage facilities with solar panels that have helped to significantly reduce our energy consumption rate.

You can participate in the campaign too if you’d like! Check out South East CDC’s Facebook and Instagram page for further details! The 3M Green Challenge @ South East campaign is running from now till 31st October 2022.

Based on a research done by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the excessive use of plastic has created a 400-year problem. In Singapore alone, about 700 million kilogrammes of plastic waste are discarded every year. And out of this massive amount, only less than 10% of plastics are being recycled. These shocking numbers have adversely affected our ocean health and biodiversity. By 2050, there could be more plastic wastes in our ocean than fishes by weight.

At Extra Space Asia, we are committed to caring for the environment and create a sustainable world for our future generations. Our continuous effort to become a more sustainable and energy-efficient organisation has led to the implementation and use of more eco-friendly materials to reduce the overall waste generated and carbon footprint. In 2016, as part of Extra Space Asia’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) environmental initiative, we distributed free eco-friendly and reusable tote bags to all of our new Customers as a welcome pack before their move-in process.

Our eco-friendly tote bags are specially designed in-house and made from 100% cotton. Besides being a functional and reusable replacement for plastic bags, this is also one of our few ways to give back to Mother Nature. Here’s a fun fact: our in-house tote bag designs have become something of a collectable and – over the years – have gone through over 5 different designs!

Through this green initiative, we hope to be a part in creating a positive, sustainable future for Singapore and advance our vision towards becoming a Zero Waste Nation.

National Day. A special day indeed, representing a momentous occasion in history which we should cherish and treasure for all time. It is a day of celebration, and celebrate we must. This year is all the much more special as there has not been a parade for the past 2 years, due to the pandemic of COVID-19. As such, Extra Space Asia recognises the importance and significance of celebrating this day, and has once again partnered with Singapore-based social enterprise ACE Seniors in a national movement of bringing National Day celebrations to nursing homes and community hospitals. This partnership marks the 3rd year running where Extra Space Asia has collaborated with ACE Seniors.

The basis of the partnership has not changed, where Extra Space Asia pledged and sponsored 652 care packs for their elderly friends at Peacehaven Nursing Home and Lion’s Home for the Elders. This volunteering effort has evolved into a tradition for the team at Extra Space Asia, where the volunteers sacrificed their time and manpower, to sort, pack and deliver the care packs to the elderlies. Each care pack consists of a variety of food (such as instant noodles and biscuits), as well as hygiene products (such as shampoo and soap), which are packed into an eco-friendly and reusable tote bag bearing Extra Space Asia’s brand!

In line with this year’s NDP theme of “Stronger Together, Majulah”, the company recognises that success and progress can only be achieved together, as we put on a united front and soldier on. All citizens from all walks of life must not be neglected, thus the reason Extra Space Asia has always prioritized the senior citizens.

Giving back to society has always been Extra Space Asia’s motto, thus this partnership has been truly rewarding and meaningful for the team. May this gesture bring smile and joy to our elderly folk, who have been the backbone of Singapore in the years before us.

Peacehaven Nursing Home is a home that offers a comprehensive gamut of services to care for the sick, frail and elderly who have physical or mental disabilities with minimal or no appropriate caregiver support at home.  Lion’s Home for the Elders is a Voluntary Welfare Organisation (VWO) that actively promotes and employs best practices in providing services and programmes for the ageing community.

Stay safe and stay healthy.

With love,
The team at Extra Space Asia.

We are glad to be able to work alongside ItsRainingRaincoats (IRR) to support their meaningful cause by sponsoring the use of our storage unit. With the newly added storage space, IRR will also bring in more items such as raincoats and home appliances to help our migrant worker community without worrying about the lack of space.

ItsRainingRaincoats (IRR) is a social initiative set up in 2015 to raise awareness for migrant worker welfare. IRR also aims to improve the lives of migrant workers in Singapore by strengthening their integration into our community, city and country. They have also employed different strategies to help improve the quality of workers’ lives and make them feel valued, appreciated, safe and welcome in Singapore.
